Student leaders model how students and adults will engage and support one another from the beginning of the year to the end, and, as you know, relationships are key to learning and growth, both academically and socially. An investment in training student leaders is an investment in climate and culture for your entire community.

Before you begin, make sure to download the Facilitator Guide below and print a copy for you and any other facilitators.

Then, download and distribute a copy of the Reflection Guide for every student participating in the course.

Upon course completion, download and distribute the course Certificate of Complete to each student participant.

  •  Specific strategies for building connection and belonging.
  • Honest self-assessment techniques and how to identify supportive resources.
  • Introduction to a Comfort Zones tool and best practices for supporting peers.
  • Practice with a Peer-A-Mid tool for assessing friendships and community connections.
  • Accountability, responsibility, and conflict resolution.
  • Ripple Goal-setting framework and ideas.
  • Inspiration and an opportunity to explore possibilities for contribution and making a positive difference.

Course Content

Brooklyn Raney

Dr. Brooklyn Raney is a research-practitioner who holds a BA from Colgate University, an MA in Educational Theater from NYU,  and an MS and EdD from the University of Pennsylvania. Brooklyn’s research explores the intersection of student perception, teacher sustainability, and parent expectation as it relates to an ethic of care in schools.

After 10 years in the classroom and as an administrator, she has spent the last five years conducting research, speaking and facilitating workshops with educators, parents, and youth serving professionals around the world.

Dr. Raney is the author of One Trusted Adult: How to Build Strong Connections & Healthy Boundaries with Young People and Successful Middle School: Adult Advocates. She is the founder of One Trusted Adult which is a company that provides advisory and student leadership programs and support that enhance climate and connections at school.

Brooklyn lives in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, with her husband, son, and two adventurous goldendoodles named Tuukka and Larry Bird.
